IDENTITY

Beyond the first impression.

The Span is the working name for the story’s Gate network. It connects prepared endpoints through a fictional traversable wormhole. A ship does not locally exceed the speed of light; the narrative uses a shorter route through space.

TECHNOLOGY / CHAPTER 01

The shortcut is infrastructure

The most important rule is not the shape of the Gate but its history. A connection cannot simply appear at any desired destination. A long first journey must establish the other end. This gives the human network an age and a cost, explaining why exploration and robotic preparation remain significant even in an advanced setting.

Ordinary travel still matters

Characters must reach the connection and travel onward after crossing it. The bible's later approved direction uses ordinary one-g travel assumptions rather than treating every civilian trip as an emergency maneuver. The page does not present those fictional assumptions as a verified human travel capability. They exist to make the narrative's distances and decisions more coherent.

The setting's exceptional premise

The Span is the deliberately speculative part of the world. This website does not claim that traversable wormholes have been engineered. Its purpose is to give one extraordinary premise consistent boundaries while keeping the rest of the film attentive to motion, heat, information and consequences. The inspection model is an illustrative ring study, not a scientific construction diagram.

Worlds in Motion

Worlds in Motion explores the homes beyond Earth: twilight cities, ocean settlements, winged travel, an artificial ring and a sunless world with engineered warmth. It shows what the civilization values before focusing on what threatens it.

DESIGN NOTES

The visual language.

Form follows the story.

A vast ring, a readable approach corridor and docking-scale vessels communicate engineering. The viewer is a schematic spatial study, not a validated wormhole simulation.

CANON BOUNDARY

What the story does—and does not—claim.

Traversable wormholes and the required exotic conditions are speculative. This is the series’ explicit science-fiction allowance, not an available technology; no time travel is part of the premise.

QUICK ANSWERS

Questions, answered.

Can a Gate open anywhere?

No. The approved story requires prior placement of its other mouth.

Is The Span existing technology?

No. It is a speculative fictional premise.

Does crossing a Gate remove the whole journey?

No. Travel to and from the Gate remains part of the route.

Are the images and videos final movie footage?

No. The photographs are development artwork and the short videos are silent motion studies assembled from that artwork. They are labelled on the page. Final character portraits, scene performances and production-ready effects are not implied.
